Dear Neighbors:
Kudos to everyone for making our first neighborhood recycling day a resounding success! We received volumes of positive feedback about the new program and we are very pleased that everyone is so excited and eager to participate.
Now that we have completed our first recycling day, here are a few tips to remember:
*Recycling pick-up will be every Monday. It does not matter what day your trash is picked up. All recycling pick-ups will happen on Monday throughout the neighborhood. As we do not have feedback at this time about how Republic will route their truck, we do not know if your pick up will be in the morning or afternoon.
*All approved recyclable items may be placed directly in the poly cart. Your items need not be sorted or bagged and may be placed directly in the cart. We would suggest that you rinse any bottles, cans or plastics related to food to prevent bad odors or critter infestations. If you have cardboard boxes, we suggest you flatten them so they do not take up room in your cart.
*Recycling will be picked up at the back door. Though the poly-carts instruct you to roll them to the curb, we have arranged with Republic Services to pick up recycling just like your trash is picked up. This is to prevent having Mondays look as though blue aliens have invaded the neighborhood and are standing, waiting for the mother ship to beam them up. If you normally put your trash on the outside of your locked gate, you may do the same with your recycling.
*If you have problems or concerns, call or email Republic Service Directly. Republic Services is committed to making recycling successful in River Oaks. Our representatives have set up a special email address for the sole use of River Oaks neighbors. The exclusive email address for River Oaks property owners only is . The staff here at ROPO will receive a copy of your email to Republic, so that we can be aware of your concerns. If you don’t want to email, call 713-726-7300 and a Republic Services representative will assist you.
*You did get a cart and don’t want one. You didn’t get a cart and do want one. You got two carts. You got a new cart and still have the old smaller bins. All matters related to carts and bins should be addressed with Republic Services at the email or phone number listed above.
*I put recycling in my poly-cart, but it never got picked up. Please let Republic Services know ASAP if you were missed by contacting them by the email or phone number listed above.
*You will not be billed for the new recycling services. If you previously paid for recycling services and your account was paid in full, you should receive one more bill showing a zero balance for your account. If there is any problem with your billing, use the email link or telephone number above. |
